Baby Room

Baby Room – Loving Care from 6 Months
At Cortoon Community Crèche, we welcome babies from 6 months old and specialise in creating a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for our youngest children. Our bright, spotless rooms are led by highly qualified, loving staff who are passionate about giving your little one the very best start in life.

We understand that feeding, changing, and sleeping are just the beginning of a baby’s needs. That’s why we ensure every baby receives constant individual attention, gentle physical contact, and plenty of warmth. We sing to our babies, share cuddles, and surround them with love throughout the day.

Our baby rooms are carefully designed to be both comforting and stimulating, with a gentle routine that blends structure and flexibility. Each day includes mealtimes, naps, free play, art and crafts, music, and outdoor exploration – giving your little one the perfect balance of care, fun, and development.

At Cortoon, your baby is more than cared for – they are cherished!

Wobbler Room

Wobbler Room – Ages 12 to 24 Months
To you, it’s play – to them, it’s learning. In our Wobbler Room, your child is taking their first independent steps and beginning to explore the world with boundless curiosity.

At Cortoon, we’re there for every milestone, supporting and encouraging your child’s natural desire to discover. Each day is filled with exciting, child-led activities carefully designed to support their development and spark joy.

From large movement activities that build balance and gross motor skills, to creative art projects, water and messy play, dressing up, outdoor adventures, singing, dancing, and early language games – every experience helps your child grow.

Our playful approach promotes communication, social skills, sensory awareness, and language development. To the children, it’s all just great fun – and that’s exactly how we believe learning should be: joyful, hands-on, and full of wonder.

Toddler Room

Toddler Room – Ages 2 to 3 Years
The toddler years are a time of amazing growth – your child is becoming more confident, curious, and aware of the world around them.

At Cortoon, we follow the Aistear and Síolta frameworks to guide our daily activities, ensuring a balance of learning through play, gentle structure, and plenty of opportunities for exploration and rest. Each day brings exciting challenges and creative experiences designed to support your child’s independence, confidence, and overall development.

Speech and language development is a key focus in our toddler room. Using songs, role play, storytelling, and group activities, we create a language-rich environment where communication skills can thrive.

Our activities also include music, arts and crafts, colour and number recognition, messy play, and imaginative games – all carefully planned to encourage creativity, build self-esteem, and strengthen concentration. With the guidance of Aistear and Síolta, every experience is purposeful, fun, and tailored to your child’s needs.

Early Years (ECCE1 & ECCE2)

ECCE 1 & ECCE 2 – Learning Through Play, Guided by Aistear, Síolta & Montessori

Our ECCE programmes provide a rich and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and prepare for the transition to primary school. We follow the Aistear curriculum and Síolta quality framework, ensuring every activity is purposeful, engaging, and designed to support your child’s holistic development.

In ECCE 1 (first year), the focus is on building confidence, encouraging social interaction, and fostering a love of learning through play. Children explore early literacy and numeracy concepts, develop language and communication skills, and enjoy a wide range of creative and sensory activities – all tailored to their individual needs and interests.

In ECCE 2 (second year), we build on these foundations, incorporating more structure and school readiness activities while still embracing a playful, child-led approach. Using Montessori principles, children are encouraged to work independently, make choices, and take pride in their achievements. They engage in practical life skills, problem-solving activities, and hands-on learning materials that promote concentration, coordination, and independence.

Across both ECCE years, our daily routines include art, music, storytelling, outdoor play, and group projects – all planned within the Aistear themes of Well-being, Identity & Belonging, Communicating, and Exploring & Thinking. Guided by Síolta standards, we ensure a warm, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Afterschool

We’ll help get your child’s homework under way and of course provide a hot, home cooked meal

Our after school care is full of fun stuff, Arts & Crafts, Games and the space to unwind and relax with their friends or siblings.

We know that modern life can get pretty hectic, and for busy parents, at Cortoon we can offer the flexibility to help out when you need extra support. For early morning starts we’ll provide a nutritious breakfast and can drop your child to school. We will also collect your child after school with a friendly face. Schools we collect from are Brownsgrove Ns and Lavally Ns. We run various fun camps for children from 5 years to 12 years during the year.

Parents choose our after school care as they know that their child will be cared for by passionate and enthusiastic staff, their homework will be supervised and they can then enjoy a relaxed and stimulating after school space to play and unwind in. We offer a lot of exciting activities.

Our afterschool provision is an all year round service, closing only over the Christmas period and on Bank Holidays.

Meals

Fresh, Nutritious & Delicious Meals

Our talented cook, Izabela, prepares freshly cooked, nutritious meals every day, introducing children to a wide variety of flavours and encouraging them to explore the wonderful world of food.

Mealtimes at our crèche are more than just eating — they’re a relaxed, social time where children can enjoy chatting with friends and sharing stories from their day.

Our menu is carefully designed using only the freshest meats and seasonal vegetables. We never add salt, artificial flavourings, or colourings. We happily cater for vegetarian diets and any other specific dietary needs your child may have.

For babies and younger children, we provide puréed or chopped meals, working closely with parents during the weaning process to ensure a smooth and happy transition.

All meals are prepared in HSE-approved kitchens by trained cooks following the H.A.C.C.P. (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) food safety system.

Our menus meet all current legislation on allergen information, clearly identifying ingredients such as peanuts, gluten, shellfish, and dairy.

And because our dishes are such a hit, we’re delighted to share our recipes with parents — so you can recreate your child’s favourites at home!
